Conflict of Interest Policy
This policy ensures all decisions in Collabs are made fairly, transparently, and without bias. It applies to leaders, mentors, and Collabers to prevent conflicts that could harm the community's integrity.
1Definitions & Examples
- Conflict of Interest: Any situation where a person's personal relationships, financial interests, or external commitments could influence their Collabs decisions.
- Examples include assigning roles/awards to friends without fair process, promoting external tuition during sessions, or using community data for personal gain.
- Mentoring only students from your own campus, or allowing personal grudges to influence moderation, are strict violations.
2Disclosure & Reporting
- Disclose any potential conflict immediately upon awareness. Leaders must disclose annually.
- Reports are confidential and reviewed by the Director. Failure to disclose is a serious violation.
- Anonymous reporting is allowed via official channels. There is zero retaliation for honest reporting.
3Handling Conflicts & Compliance
- You must recuse yourself from decisions where a conflict exists. The Director will appoint a neutral substitute if needed.
- Violations are handled per the Disciplinary Procedure (ranging from written warnings to permanent removal).
- No self-appointment to roles. Leadership selection must remain 100% transparent.
